A vasectomy is the safest, simplest, and most effective permanent birth control method. It’s an in-office procedure that blocks sperm from reaching the semen. After a vasectomy, semen still exists but without sperm. It is more effective at preventing pregnancy than any other method, except abstinence.

Men Usually Experience:

1

No change in sex drive.

2

No change in sensation.

3

No changes in testes or scrotum.

4

No change in erections.

5

No change in semen volume.

Advantages

1. Low one time expense often covered by insurance companies.

2. More dependable than any other form of contraception including female sterilization.

3. Eliminate risks associated with birth control pills, shots and IUD.

4. A vasectomy is less costly/more successful than tubal ligation.

5. Since reversal attempts sometimes do not lead to pregnancy, a vasectomy should be considered an irreversible form of contraception.

6. No need for inconvenient and less dependable methods, so there are NO MORE WORRIES!

Limitations

1. Not 100% reversible.

2. Must use other forms of birth-control until deemed sperm-free.

3. Does not prevent transmission of sexually transmitted infections (STI's).

NO NEEDLE. NO SCALPEL. NO STICHES.

ANESTHESIA

A pressure spray applicator is used to numb the skin and vas tubes without using any needles.

ACCESS

Special instruments are used to perform the procedure through a tiny access-opening on the front side of the scrotum. The 1/4-inch slit usually seals within hours, no stitches are needed.

ALLEVIATION

Most men find it less painful than a blood draw, with many reporting it as painless. We now offer PRO-NOX Nitrous Oxide for added comfort during the vasectomy. This safe, non-addictive 50/50 mix of 'laughing gas' and oxygen provides instant relief.

AFTER VASECTOMY

The portions of divided vas tubes above still have live sperm. Men are still considered fertile and must continue birth controls until their semen is examined microscopically at 12 weeks or greater to verify they are sperm free.
